Newborn FAQ’s

When should we book our newborn session?
I  advise you book before your baby is born as there is a small window of opportunity for the newborn stage and booking fill up quickly. I take bookings from your 20 week scan so please contact me to check availability for your due date. Upon booking you will only be reserving your due date for now, and once baby actually arrives we set an actual date for the session ideally between 5-21days old.
But what is my baby doesn't arrive on their due date?
Babies rarely arrive on their actual due date which is why I can only accomodate a certain number of newborns in my diary to allow flex and room to allow for babies that make early or late appearance! Upon booking you will only be reserving your due date for now, and once baby actually arrives we set an actual date for the session ideally between 5-21days old. As my diary is limited each month for newborn sessions I suggest booking as early as possible to avoid dissapointment.
How long does a newborn session last?
Newborn sessions on average are around 2.5-3 hours, however can be longer than this. We take time to feed, settle and soothe your baby and allows for nappy changing and comforting. Sometimes it can take a little longer for your baby to settle so we can get those gorgeous curled up sleepy poses.
What do we need to bring with us for a newborn session?
Everything you would normally need for your newborn such as spare nappies, milk (if bottle fed), burping cloth. As sessions can last a few hours I also suggest a snack for yourself to keep you going. I have tea and coffee making facilities in the studio as well as water – if you would rather an alternative refreshment please bring that along too.

Cake Smash FAQ’s

How long does a cake smash session last?
Approximately 1 hr.
My baby has a food intolerance - if I book a cake smash are you able to provide a cake for their dietry requirements?
In most cases yes. We have done dairy free and gluten free in the past but please get in touch to check for your own individual dietry requirements.
Do you provide the outfit for our cake smash session?
I have a selection of outfits that you are welcome to use for the cake smash – or if you have something of your own that you would rather use that’s fine too! – whatever you decide we will discuss prior to your session. If you choose to use one of my outfits for the smash part of the session, you will need to remember to bring a smart outfit for your child to wear for their portraits at the start of the session.
Can our baby have photos taken in the bath after the cake smash?
Yes this is included within the session.
What do we need to bring with us to our cake smash?
The items I advise to bring are:

Your smart/favourite outfit for your little one to be photographed in to start

Your baby’s normal bubble bath if you would like to put it in the tub for splash time

Your babies favourite toy to help them feel at ease

Your normal teething remedy just in case!

If your using your own outfit for the smash the don’t forget to bring that along too!

You are likely to get a bit messy yourself and undoubtedly get cake on your clothes or wet from tub time – so if your planning on going anywhere afterwards then you may wish to bring some spare clothes to change in to!
